Let me 1st start off by saying that up until one year ago I purchased all my wifes jewelry from Zales and JC Keepsakes. I did not have bad experiences at these jewelry stores. Last November I was making a short film that required a one minute scene inside a jewelry store. This scene would not require anything more than one of my actors, myself and a camera and a tripod. The 1st place I called was Zales, hoping that the thousands I have put into that location would bribe a manager into allowing me to take my camera into their store just 5 minutes before closing and be out within 10 mins. I was rejected, with no reasons why they wouldn't allow it. They refused to give me contact to anyone with higher authority. I called JC Keepsakes next and was able to get a manger to agree to meet with me in a few weeks to discuss terms. I was happy but then decided to go to the phone book and call some others. I found The Jewelers Bench in Provo. I called and the 1st person who answered the phone happened to also be an Owner. His name was Daniel. He told me if I wanted to I could shoot that night just after they closed. I got a hold of my actor and left right away. I was running late and I called Dan while on my way to let him know. He actually waited for me for almost 30 minutes after he could have been going home for the day. He not only let me shoot there, but he also agreed to play the part of the Jewelry store salesman and repeated the lines very nicely. It took about 10 mins to shoot. After the shoot that same night I wanted to do something for his time. I asked him some questions and he stayed for almost another hour explaining all types of neat things about gold and gems and diamonds. I found that he not only sales the stuff, but he also can make it as well! That night I ended up buying a slide for my wifes Omega. She loves it. I have been there twice since and purchased other items. Although it was not always Dan helping me every time, he was there in the background checking on us to make sure all our needs and questions are met. This year I'm having Dan build me a ring in time to give to my wife for Christmas. I chose a very pretty pink Gem stone and they are building a white gold butterfly band to attach the gem to.
They have never been pushy. I have found this company to be the most personal, honest company when it comes to fine jewelry and will only buy from them in the future.
I was listening to Bob Lonsberry on AM 570 KNRS this morning and heard the owner of this Reams location in Provo speaking with Bob. Basically what they were talking about was that this store has decided to stop selling Beer and Cigarettes. This is a huge decision and one that seemed to make the owner of this store very nervous. But he did it because of his beliefs he and his family share, (that drinking and smoking is not only unhealthy but wrong). This owner feels that he can no longer support these products by selling them if he believes in his heart that they are wrong and can do harm to others. He mentioned to Bob that while he believed because of his religion, that other products he sells are also wrong, he would not go so far as not sell them. He chooses to only remove the Beer and Cigarettes because this is a value that seems to be shared by many nation wide despite any religious backgrounds.
While this owner admitted that this may hurt his sales and maybe hurt his reputation in some peoples eyes, he knew what he must do. Basically I say to this man. Oh YEAH! Stand up for what you believe no matter how unpopular it may be! I truly believe that there are many people in your area that believe as you do and I hope that these people will support you now more than ever to encourage other good store owners to do the same.
Aside from this topic. i must admit that this store is very nice and comfortable to shop in. I cant wait to see the Beer sections stocked with Juice of all kinds.
