I agree... it's a fun store. I was first introduced to the store as a kid b/c my mom is a seamstress and is big into crafts. They have a lot of neat ideas a little projects. My wife also like the store b/c she can get good fabric for dance costumes. 
Michaels is a really fun store. There are a lot of things to look at, even if you aren't super big into crafts. They have really fun cake decorating classes, and other classes as well that are open to the community for a small fee. It is a great place to go for relief society projects.
